Droid Android 2.2 Froyo OTA Stopped Due to Bug Issues?

The rollout of Android 2.2 Froyo seems to be something of a quandary when it comes to the Motorola Droid X smartphone as apparently rumour had it that Android 2.2 was being pushed out to the Droid X as of the 27th of August, so Droid X owners should have it by now right?Well that may not be the case as according to an article over on Intomobile by Blake Stimac, the guys over at Droid-life received a couple of rumours hitting their inbox over the weekend that apparently give two conflicting dates for the Android 2.2 release to the Droid X.

Yes the HTC Droid Incredible saw long delays in getting the Android smartphone available for the public, but the Droid Incredible has caught up with stock and has been available and looks to still be managing to keep up with demand.However it appears with the availability of the HTC Droid Incredible something had to pay the price, and according to an article over on Droid-life by Kellex, it looks like the Droid X is paying that price with a shipping delay.

As you probably know after a longish wait the Motorola Droid X finally started seeing the Android 2.2 Froyo update last week and not too long after reports were hitting the net waves that the Android 2.2 Froyo update was causing some issues on the Droid X.According to an article over on Intomobile by Kelly Hodgkins, the support forums over at Motorola say that the error involves the chronological ordering of SMS messages and since the Froyo update, notifications work properly however the ordering of messages is “upside down.”

The rumours keep coming with Android 2.2 Froyo and just when the new operating system will reach the likes of the HTC Droid Incredible, Motorola Droid and Motorola Droid X, but now there is some word if it is to be believed.According to Kellex over on Droid-life, the guys of Android Spin are saying that what they believe is a “reliable source” with Verizon Wireless has said the Droid X, HTC Incredible and Motorola Droid could all see Android 2.2 as of next week.

When the latest Droid device is launched on Verizon Wireless, namely the Motorola Droid 2, the device was rumoured to pack the latest Android operating system from Google, Android 2.2 Froyo, well apparently the rumours were right.According to an article over on Droid-Life, the guys over at Phandroid have managed to get hold of a couple of Verizon device database screenshots which seem to confirm that the Motorola Droid 2 will indeed come with Android 2.2 Froyo.

For HTC Droid Incredible owners and Motorola Droid owners, the latest operating system from Google, Android 2.2 Froyo has now apparently been confirmed as coming as an over the air update in early August.According to Kellex over on Droid-life, confirmation of Android 2.2 Froyo coming via OTA to the HTC Droid Incredible came via an unofficial Verizon Tech Support Twitter account, and Kellex says “unofficial meaning they admit to being official tech reps but not necessarily endorsed by Verizon.

If you are a Droid X owner thinking about flashing your Droid X with the recently leaked unofficial Android 2.2 ROM, you just might like to hold off on doing so as apparently the leaked ROM doesn’t have an upgrade path.According to an article over on Intomobile by Kelly Hodgkins, Motorola has posted an update to their Droid X support forum with the warning that discourages Droid X users from flashing their device with the leaked ROM.

Owners of the Motorola Droid X have been waiting for Verizon to push out an over the air update of Android 2.2 Froyo to the Droid X, but if you are tired of waiting for that official release you can now grab a leaked version of the OS.According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, they have grabbed the Android 2.2 leaked OS which comes over the air in a zip format and put it on one of their Droid X devices and say they are impressed, and have made a video of Android 2.2 running on the Droid X which you can view below.
