Let me preface this article by going on record that I hope this rumor isn't true. The rumor is that the Froyo update for the Samsung Vibrant is all ready to go, has been for some time now, and is being intentionally delayed to push people into the Vibrant Plus phone which is essentially just the Vibrant with HSPA+ 4G, a front-facing camera, and Froyo pre-loaded.

If we're to believe certain nasty rumors , owners of the Samsung Vibrant won't be getting their Froyo updates until after the launch of the Vibrant HD. While there are other sensible explanations for the delay , all eyes will be on Samsung once the Vibrant HD comes out to see what its next move is.

An update on the Samsung Vibrant – and itself previously rumored as the Vibrant Plus – according to leaks passed to TmoNews the new Vibrant 4G has the same 4-inch Super AMOLED display but upgrades the OS to Android 2.2 Froyo.

The Samsung Vibrant 4G, headed to T-Mobile on February 23 according to rumors, was recently certified by Bluetooth SIG and WiFi Alliance, going by the model name SGH-T959V. The same Samsung-made model SGH-T959V was just cleared at FCC and we know it's the 4G version of the Vibrant on Magenta (the original T-Mobile Vibrant had the model number T959).
