Motorola demanded 2.25-percent of Apple ‘s sales in royalty fees, in return for licensing the FRAND 3G/UMTS patent at the heart of a 2011 German infringement suit , court documentation has revealed. The offer, which Motorola was obliged to make “fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory”, could amount to almost $15 on the unsubsidized price of each entry-level iPhone 4S,  FOSS Patents ‘ digging has shown, though full terms of the 2.25-percent deal are unclear.

Apple has been forced to remove some of its 3G products from the German online stores. This includes the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and the 3G version of the iPad 2.

A court in Germany has issued a permanent injunction against the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, upholding a ruling issued in December .

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Apple Inc stopped offering older models of its iPhone and 3G-based iPads at its German online store on Friday in a response to an injunction won by Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc in December.

Qualcomm and Ericsson revealed on Thursday that they have successfully passed a voice call from an LTE network to a 3G one, paving the way for mobile carriers to begin migrating their voice traffic onto all-IP 4G networks. That’s a big deal because the sooner carriers move their voice and SMS services to LTE, the sooner they can shut down their pokey 2G and 3G networks and establish a mobile broadband continuum across the airwaves.
